How often should I change my dentures?

Generally, dentures have a life expectancy of 5-7 years. A Denturist is the most qualified person to tell when your dentures need replacing. The usual signs that your denture needs attention are the following:

Choosing to wait or delay replacing your dentures will affect your appearance and comfort. These changes in your denture can occur gradually without notice.

Why doesn’t my lower denture fit as tight as my upper denture?

Unfortunately, a lower denture will be loose and move around. An upper denture is shaped like a suction cup on the palate; the lower denture is more like a horseshoe on an unstable surface. The bone on the lower jaw shrinks or resorbs at a more rapid rate than the upper jaw. As the bone shrinks, the lower denture comes in closer contact with the muscles in your face and tongue, which makes it tip. The best solution would be an implant-supported denture to remedy the ill-fitting denture.

Can I sleep with my dentures in?

It is not recommended that you sleep with them in. You should remove them at night as this allows your gums to rest and removes the pressure of your dentures on your gums. It will also slow down the shirking process by keeping your bone and soft tissues in your mouth much healthier. If you absolutely want to wear them at night, you should take them out during the day for a rest to maintain a healthy mouth.

Why should I have my dentures made by a Denturist?

Denturists are the most qualified specialists because we are licensed in the fabrication, repair and adjustment of all types of dentures. The word Denturist literally means “one who makes dentures”. The Denturist is the one who treats you and makes your dentures from start to finish in our on-site laboratories. This not only reduces the time it takes to receive your new dentures, but also reduces your cost. No referral is necessary to see one of our qualified Denturists at our clinic.
